A new year...

It has been almost five years since I have looked at my blogs.  I have three, one for our painting business, one for family updates, and this one, to keep track of meals I make for the family.  What a silly idea, especially because as I look back on most of these posts there is only fried chicken, pizza, and cereal.  You do what you have to do when you have seven young children, I guess.  Now, this kids hardly need me.  They are all adults or teenagers, but I still want to create a home that they love to come to, look forward to coming back to at the end of the day or after they've gone off on their adventures.  Having good meals is a great way to create an atmosphere of love, hope, and unity within the family and it has always been a desire of mine to do this well.

Youtube has been a great source of inspiration an information when it comes to meal planning and thinking outside the box.  My kids have always joked that we have five main meals: spaghetti, tacos, fish, chicken, and pizza.  It's true, these are the easiest and quickest things to cook when you don't have time to plan or think.  I recently watched the movie Julie and Julia and it inspired me, once again, to get more creative, to take time to plan, and to find courage in cooking.  Since no one reads, or ever will read this, I am going to do this for my kids so they have a record of their favorite recipes and can take them and make them a part of their families.  My mom gave me her cookbook before she died and, unfortunately, I lost it in the fire - it is something I wish I still had, so maybe my kids will value a little online recipe book.

So, here goes...
